Lenny Shirose

Wildlife Technician

Lenny Shirose was born and raised in Ontario, and received his BSc in Zoology and MSc in Ecology from the University of Guelph. Before coming to the CCWHC he worked as an ecologist specializing in population dynamics, evolutionary ecology, and wildlife monitoring. He remains active in amphibian conservation, having co-chaired the session on disease at the Canadian Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Network (CARCNET) / Réseau Canadien de Conservation des Amphibiens et des Reptiles (RÉCCAR) conference in 2007, and coordinated and compiled data from all of Canada except B.C and Alberta for the Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (PARC) Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis Mapping Project ( ).

Lenny's role in the CCWHC includes field response, prosection, managing the storage and retrieval of whole carcasses, and frozen and fixed samples, curation of histologic slides, photography and curation of images, production of graphics and the use of Geographical Information Systems for analysis and production of maps.
